Are you ready to meet other freethinkers in the Prescott, AZ area? Come to our initial Meetup and help kick-off our group! This will be a family-friendly pot-luck where we meet one another and plan future events and discussion topics. Children are welcome! We will have a baby-sitter available to play with the kids after dinner while the grown-ups chat. (Donations for the sitter are welcome!) We ask that you bring a vegan dish or beverage to share. We're looking forward to meeting you!

I enjoyed our first meet-up! Wonderful group of individuals. I look forward to seeing everyone in September. For a potluck, I think it was a success. For a meeting, I think it was not planned to be such and was missing some organization. With that in mind, perhaps there are volunteers to join the Freethinkers ning site. I believe the new ning site lends itself to discussion about any topic in a secured -- not open to public -- environment.

Great turn out! Difficult to organize that many strangers on a common agenda; look forward to "getting in to the thick of it," but not a bad initial turn out.

Poorly organized...no agenda...no Roberts RofO...unfacilitated...purpose [atheists] of meeting was neglected...ambient noise from non participaants interfered. Unfortunate as the potential was great.

I dug the gig, guys. It was good meeting everybody - or at least the portion of "everybody" I did meet. Hope to see everyone again at the next hoedown.

What a great group! We had a wonderful crowd, an amazing array of outstanding food and drinks, and lots of lively conversation. I met lots of folks whom I will definitely want to see more of. I can't wait for our next Meetup!

Great bunch of people and a terrific seed group for a community.

Jeff - Thank you very much! (Although, if we get anywhere near needing 1000 name tags, we may have to find a larger location!)

Michael - I didn't catch that podcast, but it's great that we're getting some publicity in the larger atheist community. I'd be curious to know how people are finding out about us, because a lot of our new members weren't originally on Meetup.

Congratulations Serah ~ Quite a successful first meetup! Did you hear Prescott Freethinkers was mentioned on the ApostAZ podcast, discussing ArizonaCOR.

I'll be happy to bring[masked]x4 name tags. Count on it.

Wow! We're getting quite a crowd! I'm thrilled. I thought we'd find at best half a dozen other skeptics in town. Guess I'll need to pick up some name tags for the potluck, because I'm not sure I can keep 20+ names straight without a visual aid! Looking forward to meeting you all.

I'm all for respecting individuals regardless of their beliefs. To a point. Where I draw the line is when a person (or group of people) takes their beliefs to justify injustice or harming other people. So I guess I don't respect the beliefs, but I try to give each individual the respect I think he or she deserves based on his or her behaviors.

I really look forward to meeting other nonbelievers in the area. This has the potential to be very cool.

Nanci, this is one of the topics I would love to discuss with other skeptics! Is it important to respect all beliefs? Is it important to respect all people, even those who hold irrational, unethical and ultimately wrong beliefs? I'm going to post this over on the message board.
