Hilary - Thank you for letting us know how it's going! Our thoughts are definitely with you, even if we've not met. :)
My husband is pre-diabetic and our nine year old daughter has the genes for it also, so we eat like we're diabetic. It's really not that hard, once you get used to how much you eat of what. There may be a bit of a learning curve (we definitely had one), but after that, it's been easy to maintain.
As you go through this process, please feel free to contact us if you need support or have questions (seriously). Sometimes, it's so much easier to get ideas from folks who are there and you can gleam tips from all of us so your process will be easier. :)

Thanks Anne! I'm hoping we'll get to meet soon!

Three of us have had a full week of sleeping like crap, last night being especially bad... I think we're going to beg off and hopefully (!!!) go to sleep early tonight. We wouldn't make good company, we're all a bit lack-of-sleep-crabby! :( LOL

Have fun everyone! Hopefully, we'll be able to make it to one of these events, as it's been a loooooong while!

Thank you so much everyone! My youngest is with his grandma for the next few days, so no worries there. But thanks Anne! We are still in the ER doing blood work, but we are hoping to be in a room soon. What a day! Joey is holding up really well though. Now they're telling us to expect to be here at least 3 days. Ugh. Have fun tomorrow night, and have some drinks for us!

My ex-husband is a Type 1. Management is the key, it's really not that huge a deal & certainly won't preclude normal activities in any way. Your endocrinologist can help you modify diet & activities & everything will be just fine. :)

Everyone - I am so sorry. We won't be able to have the potluck at our house. We took our son to the doctor today for some concerns we've had, and he was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. They are sending us to Phoenix Children's Hospital for at least the next 48 hours. Needless to say, we are shocked and confused. I'll keep you updated, and again I'm so sorry about tomorrow. I hope you're able to relocate!

Anne and Michael are VERY GOOD PEOPLE. Hilary, I don't think we've met yet, but I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

I went to visit Seráh and I told her I was coming. She said she might come. Rojo said he would try to convince her as he wanted to stay at Dena's and exercise on her exercise machine and play Angry Birds on my iPhone. I sure hope they come, but I'm also really excited about seeing everyone else as well. I looks like a really good group coming!

Darn, hate to miss another month but we'll be out of town. Hoping to host one soon too!

I think we should be ok, as long as everyone doesn't mind eating at coffee tables, counters, kitchen island, etc. But thanks, Vinnie! It'll be good to see you. It's been a while!

Are you kidding? When it comes to eating this group would do it on their heads! Yeah it has been a while, I'm looking forward to playing with the kids, they were fun last time. :-)

Does anyone have any suggestions or preferences for drinks? What's our policy on alcohol?

    August 26, 2014

    • Cori

Bring on the booze! Sometimes people bring wine or beer, too. Any drinks are great and folks can bring specific sodas or things if they have preferences.
