Preserve Minneapolis is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minneapolis by recognizing, preserving, and revitalizing the architectural and related cultural resources of the city of Minneapolis.
We advocate, we explain, and we explore!
On the odd months (think January, March, etc...) we host 'Happy Hour with a Preservationist', which are behind the scenes tours of hard to get into historic spaces. The cool thing is when we tour these places, many are undergoing or completing restoration (e.g. North Branch Library/Emerge, St. Anthony Falls Hydro Lab, Grain Exchange Trading Floor, etc.). Happy Hours are FREE (and we will bet that you don't hear that often).
On the even months Preserve Minneapolis hosts 'Breakfast with a Preservationist' where we congregate at Mill City Museum and spend an hour taking in a focused preservation presentation (e.g. meeting the new Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer, learning about T.P. Healy, discussing State tax credits, etc.). Again, the monthly events are FREE.
During the summer, our organization hosts about 30 walking and biking tours of special neighborhoods/places throughout the City. The cost is typically between $5 - $10 per person and many are sellouts! Some favorites are: Grain Belt Brewery (RSP Architects), Old Highland Neighborhood, Warehouse District, and anything along the river! We will add new tours every year, including Lake Street, East Hennepin, and Fort Snelling in 2012!!!
