How did you find Primal Living STL and what part of St. Louis do you live?

I live in Fenton, and searched for Primal Living on

What got you interested in the Paleo/Primal diet? How long since you adopted this lifestyle

I have had severe reactive hypoglycemia and moderate gluten intolerance for all of my life, leading to rheumatoid arthritis, vision problems, headaches, irritability, etc. Previous diets -- raw food vegan, low carb (i.e., Atkins but with grain products), etc. -- ultimately failed for various reasons. As a geologist, I am familiar with our evolutionary history. I find the science behind the Paleo diet (particularly problems with grains and excess sugar) to be compelling.

What would you like to see us do at the meetups ?

Show new ways of cooking, share stories about people's paths to the Paleo/Primal lifestyle, meet different families, discuss local sources of food, gardening tips, etc.

What issues do you have with the paleo/primal lifestyle?

Currently still trying to become "fat adapted" -- still dealing with weakness following large meals low in carbs

What is the next step you would like to take to live more primally?

Dive in and learn how to cook the foods that will keep me healthy.

I have just recently started a Paleo diet, having been plagued with severe reactive hypoglycemia and gluten intolerance for most of my life. As a geologist, "paleo" has a nice ring to it and I love the way it makes me feel!
