The Princeton Writing Group was created as a means of giving writers a time and space in which to get their work done. We've expanded to explore more activities, but our core is still our weekly write-ins.
The Princeton Writing Group is open to writers of all genres and forms (books, scripts, poem, dissertations, etc.). Our purpose is to provide a supportive environment for writers, with emphasis on productivity, community, and improvement. Our members are self-directed, and use the group as a resource to further their goals. We currently have weekly meetings in Plainsboro, Hamilton and Somerville, with an interest in expanding.
PWG was founded to provide a regular space for writers to meet and work on their individual projects. Our Weekly Write-Ins are the backbone of the group, providing members with a chunk of time they can dedicate to their work. The routine and consistency allow us to accomplish the things we were putting off to ‘one day.’ Great things happen when you make time for them.
Writing can be a lonely exercise, so we encourage members to form connections. Every month we hold a mixer purely for socializing, and returning to weekly write-ins has produced some wonderful bonds. Many of us also participate in NaNoWriMo, which helps us to connect with the greater central NJ region, and the worldwide network of WriMos.
Sadly, PWG does not currently have a system in place to facilitate critiquing, though interest has been expressed.
We are open to suggestions from members, and would love to hear from you.
