This should be good. What a combo.
Am assuming almost everyone knows of local comedian/political satirist Will Durst. If, however, you're not familiar with Roy Zimmerman's work, you *must* do yourself a favor and check him out on YouTube. Songs I've heard multiple times in his live performance, on his CDs, and on YouTube still crack me up. One of my favorites: http://www.youtube.co...
His eponymous YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.co...
Posted in 2010, but topical for the Sandra Fluke news cycle during the week leading up to the 3/9/12 show: "Limbaugh (How Low Can You Go?)" by Roy Zimmerman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TxzJ8EGDPQ&feature=related. Maybe he'll treat us to an update.
What others say about Roy:
"Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer." Los Angeles Times
"I congratulate Roy Zimmerman on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs. And the rhymes actually rhyme, they don't just 'rhyne.'" Tom Lehrer
"Roy's lyrics move beyond poetry and achieve perfection." Joni Mitchell
Meet up at: 7:30 p.m. Roy's latest newsletter implied that we could get in early and listen to him sing a couple of songs while he's doing a soundcheck.
Show starts: 8:00 p.m.
Pre-show get-together: see separately posted meetup for a huddle at Matching Half Cafe. Some folks may want to attend that, but not the show.
Tickets: $18 at door
Advance tickets $17.55 online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/230185 or call[masked]
