"Ramblin' Jack has been a towering influence on a generation of folk and rock musicians, most notably Bob Dylan" - Boston Globe
Join Progressive singles member Sky at this concert on Saturday. Tickets are $22 at the door; $20 in advance.
"One of the last direct links to the great folk traditions of this country, Jack is one of the legendary foundations of American folk music. He travelled with Woody Gutherie in the 1950s "from the redwood forests to the gulfstream waters" learning the blues along the way from Leadbelly, Mississippi John Hurt, the Reverend Gary Davis, Big Bill Broonzy and Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry, so it's fitting that his second recent Grammy award was in the Traditional Blues category. He received the National Medal of Arts award and was honored with a special dinner at the White House. Recently the award-winning film "The Ballad of Ramblin' Jack" introduced a new generation to his timeless music and yarns."
There is usually plenty of street parking, but if needed, there is free parking 2 blocks away at the Blood Centers of Pacific parking lot, located at Turk and Masonic.
The neighbourhood is most residential, but it would be nice to go out after the show for a bit to eat or a drink. I have a friend that works at the show, who will reserve us good seats.
Show starts at 8:00pm, but lets arrive by 7:45pm so we can get to meet each other. If you have any questions or to find me at the show my mobile is[masked]-7806. If you arrive late, after the music has started, ask for Marlene and she will show you where the group is seating.
