I am a long-time Bay Area resident. I am looking for a group to motivate me to become more active and participate in progressive politics and causes.
I was excited by the Occupy Oakland movement, I thought, at last! How can we maintain that kind of momentum in order to see some changes?
I like walking, hiking and the past events listed on your website are all interesting.
How are you? I have recently created a new group and we are getting together with members in January. Turkish coffee and baklava( dessert) will be served in the meeting. There is no any fee and all free. We just want to get together. We will have a short Turkey presentation video while sipping our traditional Turkish coffee. We would love to have you in our meeting :) Please, check out our group page.
Happy holidays to you.
I saw that you asked if you have to be a City CarShare member to attend the EV Demo on Wednesday, Nov. 14. You do not! Come join us.
Yes, Lana, it's a service for people who don't want or can't afford to own cars. It's 20-30 a month for membership and then you rent by the hour or the day, reserving from a computer. I don't know if they have vehicles in Fairfax, you'd have to ask. My guess is no, because it's mostly for urban folks, but you can ask.
City Car Share is a car-sharing nonprofit organization. they provide cars by the hour and the day for people who don't want to own. They are offering members of our Meetup a big discount on their initial membership. I'm not really sure what your question is about. It's an offer, just like any other discount offer.
If you have questions message Mike H or Anita, both leaders of City Car Share. CCS is now an official sponsor of our group.
Welcome to your group Lana!
I think we will be a great group for you too. We are a group of mostly mature single women so we have lots in common and we still have a great dance party and have discussion about great things for our health Hope to see you soon!
Instead of contacting the other organizers, none of whom are going on this hike, why don't you check out the member pages of those who are going and if you find someone in Oakland, contact them instead. The only one attending that I know personally is Betsy, and she lives in El Cerrito so I'm picking her up on the way.
You hit the nail on the head, Lana: cohousing is all about overcoming our society's sense of isolation and rebuilding community. Join us tomorrow night at Swan's Market cohousing if you can make it to our slide show, mini-tour and orientation.
