Do you work from home, coffee shops, and/or wherever you can balance your laptop? Are you a remote worker, freelance computer professional, or self-employed entrepreneur?
Many of today's knowledge workers and computer professionals are able to do their work wherever they'd like. There are certainly benefits to this lifestyle. But let's be honest, it can sometimes get a little lonely. And exploring the limits of Starbucks' hospitality can be a bit awkward too.
This group seeks to help with these problems; meet other virtual/remote workers in Providence; organize some co-working days; and exchange ideas about staying productive and connected with distant co-workers, clients, and others.
This group is being organized by Lullabot, a high-profile web development company based in Providence. We've got a 30+ person distributed staff and a sweet office space in the Jewelry District that is empty most of the time. We'll be organizing co-working days and other meetups to help virtual workers get some human interaction, share ideas, and maybe a few laughs.
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
