What’s a Rotary Club?
Rotary is a global network of over 1.2 million community volunteers. Rotary members are business and professional people who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill, peace and understanding in the world.
Founded in 1905 in Chicago, today, there are some 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries carry out service projects in their local communities and abroad to address such critical issues as health, hunger, illiteracy, water, youth and the environment.
Rotary is comprised of people from all races, religions, and nationalities. When one joins Rotary and becomes a Rotarian, you become a part of a worldwide fraternity in the Rotary family. You can travel throughout most of the world and find a Rotary Club within easy distance. Rotarians will welcome you warmly, even though the language may be different, the food unusual, and the location far from home.
Who are we?
We are a new club forming in Washington, DC. We are not your typical Rotary Club. We will be using a flexible meeting format to have our meetings. Here's your opportunity to become a charter member and be part of the world's oldest, largest and finest service organization.
What will the new club do?
Like all Rotary Clubs, our provisional Rotary Club will meet every Wednesday at 7pm and the last meeting of the month will be a club happy hour and social near our meeting location. All subsequent meetings and events will be posted on our meetup calendar. Once, we have followed Rotary International rules and guidelines for new Rotary Clubs, we will then be chartered. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Navin at rotaractryla@yahoo.com and we hope to see you there and all are welcomed!
