Having been one of the biggest (and most fun) events at last year's London Book Fair, The Great Debate returns this year with: "The Fight for Survival."
In one corner of the ring will be publishing's old guard, the traditional publishers; in the other corner, the young upstarts and outsiders.
The proposition being debated is: “In the fight for survival, outsiders and start-ups are taking on today’s heavyweight publishers and will ultimately deliver a knock-out punch."
Be there to vote and influence the outcome of the debate.
Starring as debaters will be: Evan Schnittman, Managing Director Group Sales and Marketing, Print and Digital, Bloomsbury Publishing Plc; Fionnuala Duggan, Managing Director, International, CourseSmart; Bob Young, CEO & Founder, Lulu; and Allen Lau, CEO & Co-Founder, WattPad.
Referrees will be: Michael Healy, Executive Director (Author and Publisher Relations) at Copyright Clearance Center; and Susan Danziger, Founder and CEO, DailyLit and Organizer of The Publishing Point.
Many thanks to sponsors of this debate: Bowker, Identifier Services and the Copyright Clearance Center.
Also, note that thanks so our sponsors, there is no charge for this event; that said, registration for the London Book Fair (which includes a fee) is required.
Too bad you'll miss the event, but we'll be taking a video of it (thanks to our sponsors, Bowker Identifer Serves and Copyright Clearance Center).

Watching last year's debate, I'm thinking this year's will be a solid event. Unfortunately I'll only be at LBF on the 17th. Look forward to catching up with it afterwards, when it's online.
