Discuss the origins of the Christmas holiday season

This meeting will be a discussion format.  As usual, the discussions are generally lively, informative and interesting.  For reference material it might be helpful to take a look at something like Martin A Larson's book, The Story of Christian Origins.

Thanks to all who showed up at the meeting last night. For such a small group, we cover a lot of philosophical territory, which is awesome.

Did Midge & I learn anything? We enjoyed the conversation, but learn something that directed or challenged my thinking? No. I welcome challenges, not so that I can defend some idea, but so that i'm led to think, to consider. I may, after all, be non-consciously trapped in a fond belief that I take for granted.

Thanks for your frank comments Ib. In the future I hope we are able to challenge your your thinking. I enjoyed your comments, which always seem to make me think beyond where I might have otherwise. I will do my best to return the favor in upcoming meetings.

This group is friendly & it was nice to meet new folks in my new community. The Moderator did a good job of bringing the focus back to the original topic & it was a lively discussion.

Thanks for your nice comments Kathy. It was nice to meet you as well and we hope you are able to join us in the future even if you have to wait until your graduate studies are complete.

There are other books out there like Martin A Larson's, The Story of Christian Origins. If anyone has one or knows of one, it would be nice to post that prior to the meeting to give others a chance to maybe give it a look or pick one up. Thanks and again I hope to see you all at the meeting.
