SODO/Georgetown Brewery Crawl

Let's spend a Saturday afternoon hitting the awesome breweries south of downtown. Two Beers, Schooner Exact, Emerald City, Georgetown Brewery, Machine House Brewery.

With 23 people going the shuttle is going to run $27 per person. Going to be $27 per person no matter how many we get, so please don't cancel because of fewer people. If you bring a friend that would be AWESOME! Shuttle will pick us up at first spot, take us to each location and then drop everyone back at original brewery. No beer on the bus since we do not have a banquet permit.

Rough time line.

Schooner Exact 11:00-11:45, Two Beers Brewery 12-12:45, Georgetown Brewery 1-1:45, Machine House 2-2:45, Emerald City 3-3:45 then return to be at Schooner Exact at 4.

It was good. Everyone who couldn't make it should feel bad. Sent from a hut in Siberia.

Hope no one else drops out, and of those going consider bringing someone along. I'm trying to find some people who aren't in the Meetup group myself. The price is going to be $27 even if there are less people, I would rather bear a smaller loss than have more people bail because they are afraid the cost might go up and end up footing even more of the bill myself. Lesson learned for me I guess. It's still going to be a great time, some good beers, first stop serves food and last stop always has a food truck as well.

Did you think about putting in cross meetup who are beer lovers?

      May 24, 2013

So it seems that the price of the van is going to go up a lot since we had several people cancel and there tends to be some no shows at these event too. I'm not willing to pay $40 to $50 for a van. I think sharing cabs would be more economical. What does everyone else think?

I'll keep it at 27, but if anyone wants to help with the overage I'd really appreciate it. Total bill with tip was 576 which I covered.

Bus is confirmed, it's a 24 passenger, so if you know of a few more people who might want to join us have them sign up. Hope the weather holds up, nice outdoor areas at Schooner Exact and Two Beers.

O.K. Going forward with the bus idea, requested quotes from about 5 different companies for 5 hours from 11-4 on Saturday. Looks like most can actually seat 23 or 24 so may be able to open it up to more people on the waiting list. I'm still estimating it will be $25-35 per person depending on how many there are to divide up the total, so opening it up to the waiting list would lower price for everyone. Might even be lower than that if one of the companies comes through with a really competitive rate.

Michael: it wud be helpful for others if you/admin could update the details about bus n it's cost on meetup description. If ppl bring cash, this may help avoid unnecessary delay.

Time wise I think we may have to cut Epic from the list, they don't open until 4 on Saturday whereas many of the others close at 4, almost thinking to start at Georgetown Brewery since they open at 10 folks could show up anytime after that then the shuttle could take us to the next stop at 11. It's not as circular of a route but taking in brewery hours it may work better. I will, of course, post any changes here if they occur. Should be a lot of fun!

Oh, bus will meet us at Schooner Exact and then drop us off there at the end. Not a ton of parking at Schooner Exact, so ride sharing to and from home would be a smart idea.

How far away are the breweries away from each other? Are they too far apart to walk to? A van might be a good idea we there's a enough people to join in. Or sharing taxis to the next brewery?.

Not walkable distance. I can still try to reserve a shuttle bus for 16, but can't get stuck with paying the whole tab. If everyone is willing to pitch in to reimburse can probably still arrange it. Just never got any feedback on it so did not pursue it.

So plan is Schooner Exact, Epic, Two Beers, Georgetown, Machine House and finally Emerald City. A loop pretty much.

Anna had a good question or three. Was there any good answers? Walking could be good, or silly.

Haven't gotten any positive yes votes on the rental van so not going to pursue that unless there is a resounding support for it now.

So if we want to rent a van/bus (about the size of the ones that shuttle you to rental cars at the airport) for the afternoon looks like it's between $35-45 per person for 4 hours, $35 if we have 16 people, closer to $45 if we only have 12. That includes gratuity and fuel surcharge. Any thoughts?

All right, I'm putting it in as May 25th (Memorial Day Weekend), starting at Schooner Exact because they have a terrific brunch as well. Can fuel up on the first stop. I'll update with more details as I arrange them.

Since I suggested it I can volunteer to coordinate. 10 seems like a good number. What Saturday in May works for everyone? I'll contact some shuttle van companies to get some prices on that for an afternoon. Can also talk with some of the brewery folks about tours, etc since I live in Georgetown.
