Heroscape: Assault on Castle Impregnable

This will be the final attempt by three united armies to defeat the defenders of Castle Impregnable before I take down the map (its been up for like six months).
High atop a cold and snowy peak sits the chill grey walls of Castle Impregnable. Atop a sheer cliff and surrounded by an icy river full of icebergs, the only ways in or out of the castle are two sheer cliffside roads--or straight through the gate of the watchtower that guards the foot of the cliffs.
Inside the castle, an evil Dragon and its horde of lizardmen and orc servants are using two artifacts to try to destroy Time itself. Already they have traveled throughout the aeons to recruit giant robots, evil samurai, and even a troop of Minutemen to their cause.
Arrayed against them, even now approaching the foot of the cliffs, under withering fire from the ramparts above, are an unlikely alliance of angels and demons, ghosts, aliens, Marvel superheroes and villians, Viking princes and robotic snipers, ogres and giants, and even the undefeatable US 101rst Airborne paratroopers!

This will be a 3-on-1 map. To save time, especially for any newer players, and to make sure the game is balanced, I will be pre-selecting all the armies ahead of time. We will determine randomly who gets what army. This will be a tough fight for the attackers, but they will have a huge advantage in terms of numbers. If you haven't played Heroscape, it is very simple and quick to learn but super-cool to play. There are several house rules we use, including a custom turn order for this particular map. Ill try to figure out how to post up a few pictures of the map ahead of time, but if you've been over to my house you've already seen it.

This was a pretty brutal battle at first, with the Redcoats and Zettian Guards literally just blowing holes in the attackers' lines. Ryan set up his defenses expertly, especially considering it was his first time playing the game ever and this map had quite a few special rules and tricks. Us attackers were down to Plan D (he killed all of Plans A, B, and most of C) and pretty much resigned to not even taking the tower after Ryans' Redcoats slaughtered 1/3rd of our units without a scratch. We had troops circling the towers rear door but the defending Samurai weren't budging, and our flying troops' assault on the all-important Yeti guarding the attack bonus artifacts was being stopped dead.

But then Dr. Doom and Iron Man performed a team attack on the tower, with Iron Man slaughtering the Redcoats and Dr. Doom blowing away the guard on the trapdoor and possessing Major Q10 and making the poor robot jump off the bridge to his doom below. Iron Man flew down the trapdoor into the tower, took the victory point and tore into the Samurai from behind and above. Even so, we would probably not have had enough forces to assault the Castle itself, except that the Paradroppers came in just in time. They landed around the inner courtyard, and even then it was a close call as they had to suffer leaving engagement attacks to reach the victory artifact. We held our breaths as the first paratrooper was snapped up by the dragon without even a chance to scream, but then the survivors claimed the victory point and dropped grenades everywhere and we snatched victory from the very jaws of defeat.

You are welcome to trade out units in one of the preset armies for your own at similar point values. Odds are you'll get an attacking army; I'd advise flying units or faster ones; its a long slog through the snow to the castle under fire for ground units. The preset armies will have several 'transport' units to help move the ground units along. Welcome to the group!

I am joining your group because I love Heroscape.
I will bring some units incase there is a chance to use them with or after the scenario.

I am a vegetarian(no meat) though I'll make sure to eat enough last me incase you don't have any non meat snacks.

Shouldn't be an issue, I doubt we'll be going still by 7, and if so we'll probably NEED a nice long break by then! Now, Ryan, this is SATURDAY, the FOURTEENTH.....:)

With no one else RSVPing so far, it appears we may even be able to call a truce prior to 7 (I REALLY don't think an initial assault will last 6 hours, previous attempts at Castle Impregnable pulled in 5 hours, including people picking their own armies--half the time at least--with breaks for barbecue) and start again with Amy taking a side after work for a renewed attack if shes interested.

I'm in! Just going to be me though, Amy is working all day. Depending on how late we run I might have to leave to pick her up at 7, but I'd be able to come right back - hopefully that's not an issue.

I hope I can make it - always wanted to learn Heroscape but never knew anyone who had any of it. Will RSVP as soon as I find out whether it's possible for me.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
