Get ready for a giant day of orcs, elves, archers, dragons, and spell-slinging Wizards! I will construct a custom, giant map using almost all of the WK maps available, based on how many peeps are going to come. My basic idea is to have the players start in the corners of the map, and have only the center cities and cities on other players' home maps be worth VP. So there will be plenty of space to fight over that is just worth money but not VP, and there will be an incentive to both expand rapidly to the middle (where the VP are) and attack and defend against your neighbors (where the other VP are) Probably we'll play to 50 or 65 VP. I have all these damn WK pieces, its time to play a REAL Wizard Kings map! Im thinking 200-point starting armies to give everyone a chance to at least start with some of the truly powerful, expensive units fully buffed up--although to keep them stocked you'll need to expand rapidly to the money maps!
If you haven't played WK before, its fairly simple to learn. Ill see if I can find a link to the rules, they're not very complex. The main problem (and joy) is the fog-of-war system. SInce you cannot see what the other players' units are, and nobody can see yours, nobody can help you make sure your moves are legal. But its not real hard to keep track of your units' abilities so don't be worried, if you're new to the game you'll pick it up real fast, and on a huge map with an all-day game there will be plenty of time to learn while playing. And for sure, if you're attacking someone else, we'll all be making sure everyones pieces can reach the battle hex legally, so you don't need to worry about accidentally bringing pieces you weren't supposed to--the defender will let you know!
If anyone wants, who is new to the game, Id be happy to set up a few small games ahead of time so you can learn the rules in a less-epic setting.
We should plan for this taking roughly as long as a TI game, although with fewer players there will be more individual time to plan moves. Even at a rush it will be an all-day game! Epic fantasy night!!!!!
