Walk for the Animals 2010- Join Team Puppy Mill Survivors

On Saturday, September 25th from 10am - 2pm, join Team Puppy Mill Rescue Dogs at the Walk for the Animals to support the Humane Society of the United States and the Washington Humane Society. Walk for the Animals is a day of fun for humans and dogs of all ages! Enjoy vendors, activities, contests and of course the walk, all in support of homeless animals. We can post pictures on our team page and send messages to friends and family and of course, we get to walk together! You can even do yoga with your dog! I have done this every year and this is a total blast! This is also going to be a great way to educate the public about the abuses that go on with puppy mills. The people there are already sympathetic and some are interested in adopting-so for those foster parents in our group please feel free to bring your dogs for potential adoption. Registration for the event costs $18 for adults and $12 for kids 12 & under. Children under 3 get in free! To join our team click
here then select the button that says "Join My Team". Once you complete your registration, you can start fundraising and you can track your fundraising progress on our team page. Our fundraising goal as a team is $500. Each person can help us meet our goal by encouraging friends, family and co-workers to donate. Donations can be made toward an individual or toward the team as a whole (donations toward individuals also count toward the teams overall fundraising goal). Donations can be made directly online or they can be mailed in. If you have any questions about registration or collecting donations, please feel free to email us at [masked] or call Lizza at[masked]-3365. For more information about this event visit humanesocietywalk.org. We hope to see you there!! **PLEASE NOTE- YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS TO REGISTER FOR THE WALK AND JOIN OUR TEAM. It was a great experience, but the weather got in the way -- it was way too warm for everyone! It would have been great if this was held at the National Mall.

The Ban Puppy Mill shirt that the group wore caught the attention of the HSUS Task Force on Puppy Mill Manager -- he asked where we bought it and was surprised that it was made especially for our group. Lots of people took a pic of the banner we made (I'll post pics later)......so I guess we were able to get the message across -- BAN PUPPY MILLS!

Our group was able to raise around $1600. Marilyn Hottle was top 3 in the individuals for the most donations. I hope more members will join us next year.

Was very disappointed in the venue -- no shade for the dogs and the walk was not able to be done in a relaxed matter -- too restricted an area and dogs, people, strollers, etc. constantly bumping into you. There was also not enough COOL water for the dogs along the way. The meetup group was fine and that was fun -- supporting our puppy mill survivors.
