Learning about dogs never stops, I like to utilize all resources that I have available to me in order to become a better trainer and dog care taker and guardian.
Ginger is my 11 year old standard poodle. We found out that she was born in a puppy mill and my parents didn't want to adopt even though I did (they were worried about getting a sick dog) so they bought her from a pet store. Despite wanting to avoid getting a sick dog, Ginger was very sick with an URI and other issues that we had to get cleared up when she got her. So my parents paid a lot for a store bought dog and then lots of additional medical expenses on top of her initial cost (no way were we going to return her just because she was sick). We have been INCREDIBLY lucky that all she has are small, minor health issues like allergies and such. Luckily, she doesn't remember the mill from when she was a baby and she's a happy, healthy, well adjusted girl. She is the best dog in the world and she helps me rehabilitate rescue dogs. She's my service dog. All my training is force, pain, intimidation and fear free.
