PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND AGREE BEFORE APPLYING ... Note especially the dog size and temperament requirements, the Sunday afternoon schedule, and the commitment level.

This is a group for very small to small/medium-sized dog breeds with friendly, calm and gentle manners who would like to get out to the retirement homes for pets, hugs, kisses and profuse admiration from the lonely, dog-loving seniors there. Currently we are only visiting two retirement homes, each once a month on select Sunday afternoons: Renton's Chateau at Valley Center and Seattle's Queen Anne Manor.  If anyone wants to initiate visits to another retirement home or an alternate venue, that is a possibility for the future.

I would like to limit the group to committed members, that is, persons willing to commit to at least six visits a year. That would mean you would need to make at least half of the visits to one of the two retirement homes. The visits are regular, and should be easy to schedule around. Of course, I would hope you could make many more than six. I need to be able to confidently assure the activities directors of these homes that we will have an ample turnout of resident-loving dogs. We have never had a problem getting an ample turnout of dog-loving residents.

Whether your dog is a lap sitter (we need lots of those!) or likes to circulate and nuzzle hands, he is welcome. If your dog knows tricks (even just "Sit!"), you can expect to perform to an appreciative audience. We don't require any special training, just a friendly and gentle temperament ... of the humans and the dogs!

Please have a friendly, calm dog who is, preferably, under 15 pounds ... or up to about 30 pounds if he/she is VERY calm and gentle when interacting with humans or other dogs. We need to make sure our visits are calm and loving, not chaotic!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
