January Workshops Review & Makeup

If you weren't able to make one or all of the first 3 January workshops, or if you still have questions and/or want a chance to go over all we've learned, this session gives us a chance to review together. By the end of this meeting we hope to have everyone prepared for the start of our next phase--building awesome projects together that we can share with the world!

    Hey everyone,

For those who attended the Raspberry Pi demo at our meeting on Wednesday and are interested in learning more, or if you missed it and still want to learn about the Raspberry Pi, I just learned about a free webcast next Wednesday at 10am. If you can't participate in the live session, register ahead of time to get access to the recording afterward. The presenters are the authors of an O'Reilly book on getting started with the Raspberry Pi which is $15 (http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920023371.do).

    The webinar info is here:

    The webcast will cover:

    Tour of the Boards
    The Proper Peripherals
    Do I need a Case?
    Booting Up
    Configuring Your PI

(Keep in mind that if you don't already have a Raspberry Pi, they can take a month or so to ship once you've ordered it. The webinar is hands-on and may not be very useful if you don't have a rPi to follow along.)

For those of you coming to New Relic for the meetup:

We are in the "Big Pink" US Bank tower on the 28th floor.

You can check in at the information desk downstairs on near the elevators. They will need to "unlock" the 28th floor for you to come up. Once the first one or two PyLadies are here, we can post a PyLady downstairs to greet and let up other attendees.

We are in the "Bat Cave" meeting room. There will be a whiteboard with signs once you get out of the elevator.

If you have a bike, you will need to bring it up via the service elevator as bikes are banned from the regular elevators.

Please call or text me at[masked] if you run into problems.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
