Coding Sundays - LPTHW

  • This location is shown only to members

Are you new to programming or do you want to learn Python? Come join me on weekends, we can go through the free online book Learn Python the Hard Way (PS: "hard" = proper/thorough/best!).

• For those new to these sessions, I'll help you get started (installing, giving you an overview of some basics) so that you can work through the exercises.

• For anyone that's already started the book, if you have any questions while working through the exercises, then the rest of us will be there to help answer!

What do you need to know? Nothing - although typing will help!

What should you bring? A laptop! And a can-do mindset :)

What will you get out of these sessions? You'll meet other women who either want to learn to code or improve their skills. It's a fun, no-pressure environment where we can keep each other motivated! The aim is to build up our skills so that we can work on some "community" projects together (so start thinking about what you'd like to do...)

Hope to see you there :)

hiiiiii Renalda, I'm actually a little tied up over the next several weekends but I know that Ryanne would probably be happy to host another session @ThoughWorks if there's interest :)

hey Diana, I have no exp with chromebooks other than knowing their aim is to have users work mostly in the browser... did a quick search re your question and i'm seeing responses such as downloading python editor apps or enabling "dev mode" so you can access the shell and run python. You're welcome to come along and we can try it out... (If anyone else already knows the answer please pipe up! :))
