PyLadies South Bay: October Zombie Workshop

This month we're doing something special for October Halloween. PyLaddie Al Swiegart has put together an event where we'll making bots that play Zombie Dice. Then we'll pit our zombies together to see who can outcompete, outlast, and outlive! So to speak.

This blog post outlines the rules to the game:

Don't worry if you are a beginner, the rules are simple and the code is straightforward. Just bring your laptop and we'll do it together. :)

Who's invited?

This event is open to women, friends of PyLadies, and anyone else interested in supporting diversity in tech. Kids of any age and gender are welcome.

6:30-9:30:  Zombie Dice Tournament. It'll be zombietacular.

How do I find you?

We'll be in the Culture Club conference room.  Here's a map on where to go:

Just come in the front doors, head up the stairs immediately in front of you, and look for signs to the Culture Club conference room!

I ride public transit, can I come?

Totally! For those of you coming from Caltrain, there's a free public shuttle that goes right to LinkedIn:

LI also has an official shuttle which technically is employees only, but unofficially it should be fine, too.

Hope to see you there!

A big thank you to LinkedIn for sponsoring us and giving us space and food. :)

very useful, easy to grasp the material--even as a total beginner, I was able to make a few bots of my own

Yes, I agree! I'd been thinking of coming back to Python (and coding in general) after a long-ish hiatus, and this was a great way to get my feet wet a bit again. :)

It was fun. If only I could beat the built in bots ;)

Is it alright if we show up a bit late? I would really love to be part of it, but might be a bit late.

I don't mind at all - the guard will be gone if you're too late, but I'll leave my phone # on the sign on the door.

Hi, I'm new to the area and need some help figuring out transportation. :)

Do you know if we can take the free shuttle or the LI shuttle back to the caltrain station after the event is over? It seems like the last public shuttle leaves around 720? Thanks!
