PyLadies South Bay: February Meetup

Come hang out, hack and chat! Dinner will be provided. Beginners and experts welcome. :)

We're a low-key, friendly meetup, where you can bring your laptop and a project to work on and find people to work with.

Who's invited?

This event is open to women, friends of PyLadies, and anyone else interested in supporting diversity in tech. Kids of any age and gender are welcome (no, seriously).

6:30-7:00:  Dinner

7:00-7:45: Announcements & member discussion

* What's coming up for PyLadies

* Events in the Python community

* Member introductions & announcements

7:45-9:00: Hang out, chat, hack on your projects, talk to new people, eat more pizza

How do I find you?

We'll be in the Neon Carrot conference room.  Here's a map on where to go:

Just come in the front doors, head straight through and follow the signs!

I ride public transit, can I come?

Totally! For those of you coming from Caltrain, there's a free public shuttle that goes right to LinkedIn:

LI also has an official shuttle which technically is employees only, but unofficially it should be fine, too.

Hope to see you there!

A big thank you to LinkedIn for sponsoring us and giving us space and food. :)

Hi Selina, Here's a coursera course about python that starts up on March 24 for 9 weeks.

I'm also looking for what other courses might be helpful for me. I looked at EDX today. I keep finding and signing up for other (non computer) classes that sound fascinating.!

Thanks for organizing this Rachel! Like we talked about, I would love to participate in workshops with GitHub/Open Source/Django/Coursera/Udacity courses.

Where in Sunnyvale? I don't really know my way around yet, but I'm technically in Sunnyvale (near Baylands park).

Anyone going to cross Valley Fair Mall on their way to the meetup or while going back home?

Hoping to come to this meeting.
I just completed the Coursera course Introduction to Interactive Programming with Python.
Are there other vegan folks who come to this meetup? I know that asking for a pizza without meat AND without cheese is kind of a lot to ask for.... and not always possible (depending on how food gets made/ordered) It would be great if it is possible, ;p especially if a number of people would prefer this.

Hi Moria! I'll try my best - I usually ask for a salad or other veggie friendly-option, but sometimes I get what I get. You're welcome to go get food at our cafe - it opens at 7 and has plenty of vegan options.

Hi Rachel, Thank you! I totally understand. (I realize that often people don't have a way to provide vegan food, and I appreciate good intend regardless of the outcome.) Going to the cafeteria sounds like a great option, too! Thank you and I look forward to meeting you!
