2XBest Programming Practices

This meetup will open up by a lightening talk from

David Hallvig on how they use Python at Campanja.

After that we have  two talks, approximately 30-40 minutes each:

1. Object-oriented programming in Python (Beatrice)

Python is a great scripting language that you can use to speed up your everyday computer work and relieve yourself of repetitive and boring tasks, but it doesn't stop there. Python is also a full-blown object-oriented programming language, although its implementation differs a bit from statically typed mainstream languages like Java or C#. We will take a short trip from scripting to OO and look closer at what's special with the Pythonic approach.

2. Python for data analysis: do's and don'ts (Oxana)

Outline: So you have some data, you can do Python. Now how do you go about organizing a data analysis project? What software design approach to use? Which libraries are available in Python? What are the common pitfalls and how to avoid them?

Before and afterwards we have time to mingle, have some drinks/sandwiches and admire the new Campanja's office.

If you want your friends (PyGentlemen included) to come along, feel free to invite them as guests.

How to get to Campanja:

We are located at 17 Sveavägen and there is an entrance gate up to our office to the left of the large Inet store/sign. Please go up the stairs and enter to the right to get into the new Campanja office.

A pity, that so many of you could not make it, but it was very cozy and good to see new members! Here are the slides for my talk: https://speakerdeck.com/oxanasachenkova/data-analysis-project-in-python
(Download as a PDF to follow the links - there are lot's of them!)

There are problems with the metro, people coming from the blue line (like myself) will probably be really late. FYI

Please enter the office from Sveavägen. There is a black gate to the left of the big Inet sign that will be open. See you all this evening!

yes, it's an open meetup for everyone who is positive about diversity in tech! although, keep in mind, it's not a study group session, but talks+mingle.

Ali, we are set for a difficult task of creating a diverse community that does not exclude anyone and at the same time offers a friendly and comfortable place for women who are just starting with programming. This particular meetup is for the ladies + friends. Ideally, bring a lady interested in Python with you, but if you can't and we have free spots available, come anyway.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
