Web Development Python Meeting - Q&A Night

This is our first meeting devoted to Python and the Web. Our agenda will be an informal question and answer meeting with side bar explorations and demos.

This format was decided because many members are new to web development and this format is a great way to foster new skills for newbies and build mentor skills for seasoned web developers. Members of all levels are needed. Seasoned web devs can help answer questions while newbies can learn and partner with a mentor.

So please start commenting on this meetup with your questions so we can build a list to disuss at this meeting.

We don't have a sponsor for food or drinks for this event. Please plan accordingly however since we're at Common Roots you can purchase your own food and beverages. BTW, happy hour at Roots starts at 9p - see the menu for more details.

I'm also sorry for my late drop. I hope my absence opens some room for somebody not on the list.

Would anyone be able to give a little introduction to cherrypy?

    October 1, 2013

    • Python M.

I haven't used CherryPy directly but we can discuss of the differences it has compared to Django / Zope / etc. Maybe somebody else can chime in at the meeting...

Sorry for the late removal of the RSVP. I lost my wallet today, and so I've been speeding around looking for it. I hope everyone has a great time!

    Hello Peter and al,
I thought I signed at the begining for the Web Dev Meeting, I see that I am not yet on the list ?

Anyhow, I can bring a projector, and perhaps present a brief overview of PHP vs Python Based CMSes (Joomla, Drupal, EZ publish Vs Plone, Django-CMS, Mezzanine). I am relatively new to django, so I assume that there are ubergurus in all the above topics. What I am saying is that I am not pushing to present, we can leave it for discussions though... and share advantages and pain points. So I should resubmit for waiting list ?

      ACU, that subject sounds good.

BTW, We have a project lined up for this meeting. But I'll keep you in mind if we don't have one for future meetings.

Hi All, we have a waitlist for our first web dev meeting. If you know right now that you will NOT attend, I'd appreciate it if you could update your RVSP. Otherwise, I'll see you next week.

I am interested in django south. I would appreciate if somebody could talk about it.

    September 21, 2013

    • Python M.

Cool. Can you put the question on the meeting wiki page in the "pages" section of our meet up? I have experience with South so I can speak to it.

Wanted to say thanks to Brandon Krumwiede for volunteering to help plan and run this meeting.

Hello, I am interested in Django based CMS integration. Debian Linux, NGINX (or Apache HTTPD), Gunicorn, Django, Mezzanine (perhaps a comparisin with Django-CMS) and some form of ecommerce.

Due to the size of the room at Common Roots, I have capped the meeting size to 22 people (need some space for equipment).

    September 11, 2013

  • Python M.

Common Roots doesn't have a projector. Is there one somebody might be able to bring?

    September 7, 2013

  • Dan S.

Peter, is there a way for you to enable a "Maybe" reply?

    September 4, 2013

    • Python M.

Meetup no longer offers people to answer "Maybe".
