Come to the Python Web Meetup, Tuesday, February 4th and practice putting legacy code under test. Bill Tucker will bring his code retreat experience and help us facilitate a code kata.
We have frequent opportunities to practice programming by ourselves, but this is an opportunity to practice the process of programming in a group: We will be using Test Driven Development to improve and extend a given set of Python legacy code by writing tests that fail, and the write code (or editing) to make the tests pass.
We'll run the Gilded Rose code kata... Everyone will have a timed opportunity to rotate thru the typing and navigating seats while onlookers look on and provide suggestions if desired. We'll write tests and then code to solve this kata as a group.
Join us on Tuesday to share techniques & knowledge while practicing pairing & communicating, using tools that may be unfamiliar. It will be a friendly, supporting atmosphere. ...And you'll learn something, too.
We will be holding this meeting at the conference room in 19 Old Town Square. Please RSVP, as this room only holds 10. If we need a bigger space, we'll find a new location.
19 Old Town Square is located right in Old Town Square near the fountain. Get yourself to the fountain, then facing Northwest-ish, you should see a door marked 19 Old Town Square. It is between Thamel Import Gift Shop and the Visitor Information Center. Enter that door, go up the stairs, and we will be in the conference room directly to the right. If you get lost, call Chris at 303/809-1001.
