Python March Meetup

Dear Python Friends,

Please join me for this month's Python Meetup at G Adventures! They are one of the longest supporters of this meetup going back four or five years, and we love them for that!

Come for a night of beer, pizza, and wonderful technical presentations!

G Adventures is an adventure travel pioneer offering the planet's most awe-inspiring selection of affordable small-group tours, safaris and expeditions with a strong focus on sustainable tourism.

The travel industry has many slow moving players, but G Adventures is unlike those. We love Python, build modern Javascript applications, just launched a REST API, and are moving full steam ahead on disrupting the industry.

We also have a pretty cool office as well, so come check us out!

Really nice and learned a couple of neat things. Exceptionally respectful audience for the presenters which helped in being able to process the content. Thanks for hosting!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that came out! We had a fantastic time, and we hope you did too. :)

Excellent, great content from the presenters and lots to take away and think about. Especially interested in the python apps on linux desktop presentation.

Here are the slides from my little talk about writing python apps for linux desktop

Great talk! Pretty interesting to see how easy it is to code Gtk apps in Python. Very similar to stuff I've seen with Qt Python bindings. :)

Don't let the snow storm win! Lot's of great (craft) beer, pizza, and talks tonight!

It's official, I have to bail. I was hoping to offer attendees tonight 15% tickets on our Python train to PyCon in April. I'll make the offer here.... http://pythononrails.ca/

    March 12, 2014

    • Bartek

That's unfortunate. I'll spread the word for you though, if that's ok with you!

awesome, thanks! and thanks for organizing tonight!

      March 12, 2014

  • Maciej L.

I won't make it too - snowstorm wins this time :(

    March 12, 2014

  • brydon

I unfortunately may have to bail and catch a train home instead of risking a bus.....if I do, I'll update my rsvp!

    March 12, 2014

  • Brad F.

Just joined the wait list for tonight in case my conflicting event gets cancelled because of the snowstorm. Would be great if those whose plans have changed for attending tonight would update their RRSP status so I know if I can attend tonight. If not I'll see you all next time.
    ....brad....

Looking forward to tonight, hoping to share what we're up to with our upcoming train to PyCon, http://pythononrails.ca/

    March 12, 2014

  • Bartek

Snowstorm? NO PROBLEM! It's going to be a fun, and long night so don't stress out if you're running late!

    1 · March 12, 2014

  • Yanshuai C.

I'm on waiting list, does that mean I can't come?

    March 10, 2014

    • Bartek

Hey Yanshuai. Please feel free to show up! The cap for all meetups is at 60, and our space is big (but not *too* big!), but we won't say no. Pizza/beer is purchased for the cap, though :)

      1 · March 10, 2014

    • Yanshuai C.

@Bartek, thanks! I think I'll show up then. I'll buy my own pizza/beer if needed. Looking forward to it!

    Complications. Can't make it, alas.

    March 10, 2014

Hi everyone! We're excited to have you over at G once again. If you're interested in giving a presentation, even a quick one, let me know and I'll make sure you get to present :)

Can I get 5-10 minutes to talk about the new aosa book? http://aosabook.org/

      4 · March 11, 2014

    • Bartek

Michael, yup! We'll make sure there's an announcement for people who want to come up and speak after some presentations from G employees. :)

      March 11, 2014

  • Ahmad

    Oh man so excited ..!!

19 Charlotte St is in M5V 2H5 (what was M3B 0A3 in the URL of the map link for? That's up around Don Mills and York Mills.)

    1 · March 6, 2014

  • Bartek

Hey Duffy. I'll figure out why the map link is not right, but we are definitely not up there!

http://bit.ly/1hQ9APf shows the correct location. We are in the same building as the "Charlotte Room" bar. Cheers :-)
