About Supreme Science Qigong:
Jeff Primack created this style of Qigong after studying with several Qigong masters and practicing over a hundred styles of Qigong. In this workshop, you will experience the powerful healing practices taught to thousands of people at Qi Revolution seminars across the United States (qirevolution.com).
About the Level 1 Qigong Form:
Jeff Primack, founder of Supreme Science Qigong (qigong.com), designed this Form after studying over a hundred different styles of qigong. The Level 1 Form uses slow, magnetically charged movements that are gentle yet provide a very strong "Qi feeling."
Healing accelerates because of the powerful effect on blood circulation. Most normal healthy people use only 60% of their circulatory system. A "Qi blockage" is simply a small area where the blood cannot go, and therefore an area where disease can occur.
Qigong's powerful effect on blood circulation allows us to circulate as much blood as jogging, all while standing in the same place barely moving! This is what makes it such a unique and powerful form of exercise. Because the body and mind are relaxed during this profound circulation, blood is able to make its way into closed off capillaries, providing healing and detoxification.
The Level One Qigong Form includes five exercises:
" Empty Force" - suspected to be one of the first Qigong exercises ever conceived, this is used by thousands of Qigong and Wushu schools. It creates a powerful magnetic force that envelops the hands and entire body to assist movements.
" Cloud Hands" - gets your lungs used to opening bigger, helps the energy of the heart and lungs, naturally improves breathing
" Earth Hands" - for the lower portion of the body, collects Qi to strengthen the hips, legs and reproductive organs
" Around the World" - Qigong practitioners have used variations of this exercise to build energy for thousands of years. Collect Qi into a dense sphere of energy using your hands. This exercise also helps improve the digestion/ elimination system.
" Push Hands" - involves mental direction of energy from one had to the other. Helps you learn to externalize Qi better.
About Taoist Stretching:
After the Level 1 Qigong Form, we take a short break and then perform a Taoist Stretching Routine. This covers every major muscle group in the body and gets us ready to practice the Level 2 Form.
About the Level 2 Qigong Form:
The Level 2 Qigong Form builds upon the basic principles of working with Qi that we learn in Level 1.
It contains four exercises:
"Full Body Cleansing" - Removes energy blockages along the length of the body and helps open the meridian system.
"Drawing the Bow" - A very potent exercise for building strength and focus as well as developing the ability to sense and direct Qi externally.
"Full Body Spiraling" - Helps the endocrine system, the appearance of the face, improves eyesight and increases microcirculation to the brain.
"Nine Breath Method" - This advanced breathing technique can produce a full body vibration of energy in about 45 seconds! It takes an hour to properly teach so I will not have time to show you in this workshop. (But, I will teach the Nine Breath Method at our workshop on March 18th). Those who know the technique can perform it and others will do slow deep abdominal breathing.
We conclude the Level 2 Form with a short sitting meditation to enjoy and anchor our tranquil state of mind and body.
About the Simple Healing Foods Potluck:
After the Level Two Form, you are invited to stick around to enjoy a short potluck and get to know your Qigong community.
I provide dishes and silverware. You provide a simple healthy snack. This is a "simple" potluck because your snack can be very easy to prepare. I will have knives and cutting boards to slice veggies or fruit, so this can really be as simple as picking up an organic avocado or two from the grocery store!
Because this is a healing foods potluck, there shall be no sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no soy, no dairy, no factory farm meat, no fried foods, and no gluten. Only bring organic produce please, local produce preferred.
Here are some ideas of what to bring:
- Avocado slices
- Guacamole + Veggies
- Hummus + Veggies
- Fresh Organic Fruit
- Kombucha, Tea or another healthy beverage
- Raw Nuts + Dried Fruit
- Salad (one you prepare yourself or one of those delicious New Seasons prepared salads)
- Salsa + Organic Corn Chips
- Chia Seed Pudding
- Cooked Lentils, Quinoa, Garbanzo Beans (or other tasty, high-nutrient, protein-dense food)
- Dark or Raw Chocolate in any form (if you want to really get on my good side!)
For this potluck I will bring raw soft tacos (shiitake mushroom & pecan "meat," cashew sour cream, homemade salsa, "cheese," & avocado wrapped in a collard green leaf).
I'm Adrianne DeCotes, founder of this meetup group and certified Level 2 Supreme Science Qigong Instructor. I have been teaching qigong to individuals and groups since August 2010.
Regular Qigong practice benefits my life in so many ways. It's a very effective form of meditation, as well as a very relaxing and enjoyable thing to do in itself! Qigong makes it easier for me to be relaxed, centered and peaceful all the time, not just when I practice.
Regular Qigong helps my body work more efficiently overall across the board. My metabolism, endurance and strength increased, my digestion improved, and I need less sleep.
I used to have chronic lower back pain and feel a continual urge to stretch my body. Now, my back is pain free and I no longer feel continual tension or tightness. I no longer feel a constant urge to do yoga and stretch. It feels like the energy is able to flow more harmoniously in my body overall, all the time as a result of my regular Qigong sessions.
I'm excited to share this simple, yet incredibly healing practice with you!
