Talk about this Meetup

There are at least three pictures taken by my N9. Not many, but more than nothing:
    https://picasaweb.google.com...

I am usually taking photos, but unfortunately I was hacking on the LED blinking code of the pandaboard, so I missed the photos this time. Even if that was simple, I am happy that worked at least. Thank you to all. :-)

      Haha, funny photo :)
Yet LED hacking example was more impressive.

Laszlo, I was trying to google your contact info and the very first link was to a Hungarian boxer, born in Budapest who won gold medals in the 1948 Summer Olympics. A relative of yours? :)

Of course, five minutes later I found your card, yet that was a funny experience :)

We will have to wrap up before 9PM, as I will have to get some food from the grocery store, as tomorrow is a public holiday as far as I can remember :p

Rehashed my old slides on Unit-testing and test-driving QML. Ready for the meetup now and also got an idea of what to talk about next time - mocking Qt using qtmock library ;)

I am unsure, but there were no cross-platform parsers earlier apart from the one in kdevelop, but that has too many dependencies for a simple qt project to deal with. Perhaps clang is getting there nowadays, but it is still not the most polished.

Google mock wrote some parser which fails in certain cases as they describe.

My qtmock-ng idea is leaning towards what amop, or even more: the hippomocks project does out there.

With that workflow, you do not have an extra step during the building. Things are generated on the fly.

In the end, I think these two approaches (qtmock and qtmock-ng) make sense. I do not personally prefer the mockpp way where all you have is handful macros, but no generation automatically.

If you are working for a company who would like to give a presentation about them how they use Qt, you can, but you will have to bring "free swag" to us ;)

I am trying to create a quick demo application also with qt5 + Qt Desktop Components, but lets see if I get anything fancy :)

No raspberry pi yet.. moved the topic to pending topics section.

I started to create a list of companies who has qt based products or who are doing contracting with qt:

Form to add new items @ https://docs.google.com/spre...

View the added items @ https://docs.google.com/spre...

By having such list it might help you to get projects or to find a job.

    The location will have following:
    - big sofa
    - tv
    - pool table
    - table + chairs

So more likely we will use the big TV for possible demos and presentations.

I will try to acquire soft drinks and snacks for the meetup.

The QtOnPi project has NOT shipped the Raspberry Pi devices. The device programme is pending on the activity from Raspberry Pi organization.

So it seems that the focus will be on other topics. But this does not rule out that we could not have a chat and maybe organize something for the future :)

kewl. Same thing, just add the topics to the description of the meetup :)

Last time I was speaking about it at the Tampere meetup, it took some 30-40 min including QA section. That was slides + a live typing demo. I see there are lots of items in the program already: If you are short on time, I could probably compress it to 20 mins by throwing away live typing and just claiming that "it works".

We finally have a place ? Yay \o/

I have two topics I have recently worked, and I could present, if there is any interest:

    1) QtDesktopComponents: http://qt-project.org/wiki/...

It is amazing how simple to create desktop applications even if it is just an ongoing research, without playing the plain QML way...

    2) A Qt system on my Pandaboard

Added a place and approx time and date. I will have to confirm these still :)

But lets have a quick-and-dirty hacking session. There is at least sofa, table and a tv.

Sure :) I haven?t dug into it really much so far, as my work is not exactly low level (read: I?ve been too lazy), but after I get the device and manage to start to fiddle with it, I should have some idea what kind of things I?d be able to do with it...

    Hi All

I moved to Helsinki a coupe of weeks ago to join a cool startup. We are looking for one more dev. I was going to talk to people on the next Qt meetup, but since there's no date for it, I post here as most of Helsinki Qt people are probably monitoring this thread.

Message space is limited so I post just keywords (none is mandatory, all is a plus): probably not senior, Qt, Linux, hardware, drivers, video calls, server-side java, a bit of python. Contact: [masked]

If that company would like to sponsor the next meetup you could give a full presentation of the company etc. ;)

Posted by Juhapekka Piiroinen February 28, 2012
    • Artem's Photo

I was thinking about it and would love to host the meetup. The problem is that amount of space we have access to is enough for some 6-8 people max. I truly hope there are more Qt hackers in Helsinki than that :)

There is at least one burning topic from my side as one of the long term contracting deals are going to end soon, so for example I am now looking forward for the next project to work on. If your company or you know a company who is hiring consultants then here is one available starting from April 2012. You can contact me [masked] for details.

We are still working on finding a sponsor for the next meetup. We need a place at the minimum. Any offers are welcome. :)

    Dear Qt geeks,

I have been experiencing major issues with Ovi Store for N9. And I have posted a post to http://talk.maemo.org/showt... and I have raised one bug also to https://harmattan-bugs.nokia....

I would really value your input on this matter, if you could leave your comments to that talk.maemo.org thread, it would be really great!

    Cheers,

    Hi,

About Qt DevNet group I talked at some meeting with few people, they approved the request so it is ready to use now. We can have internal wiki (I guess our articles would fit to main one well) and forum section there (this needs a request, if people would want to such, please join and express it there :)

Also it supports RSS aggregation, if someone has any related feeds, it would be easy way to add some liveliness to the group. Aand... If you know any other Finnish or Finnish-like Qt related groups, please pass word about this to them.

Beer \o/ Count me in :)

As for the actual meetup with presentations, if people are interested, I could go through my work-in-progress sharing app that I finally got working via the Share UI. It wasn't even complicated, there's just no documented examples..

It's on github if you want to take a look, though it's not pretty, missing features and it's buggy etc etc. https://github.com/jaywink/s...

      +1 for this, too. :)

I could also repeat this presentation happening at FOSDEM:
      http://fosdem.org/2012/sche...

I have few working KDE mobile applications ported to Harmattan. I could make a demo with some of them, for instance which are useful for kids and students.

In the previous meetup we had some N9 and Qt Creator related kick-start talk. What about this time, should we investigate the Share-UI, how to add a new item to there?

Does anybody have any info on that one? Somebody was speaking about some xml file somewhere etc?

Posted by Juhapekka Piiroinen January 18, 2012
    • Juhapekka Piiroinen's Photo

Then there is also the Transfer-UI which could be presented as well.

      http://harmattan-dev.nokia....

And one thing could be also some MeeGo Touch demos and how to do that kind of apps, anybody?
