I don't know, at least meeting people who do the same (because I was almost convinced I was the only one to do it :-)), and maybe designing better techniques?
Yes. About 4 years ago, I started to write my thoughts down for self-knowledge, especially to challenge some limiting beliefs of mine, or to help for decision-making, or to observe how my thoughts change according to events or activities. Now, I cannot imagine trying to solve any complex problem without this process. I also precisely tracked my diet + physical exercise for around 2 months and how it changed how I feel. What else? Oh, as I sometimes had a particularly good productivity and sometimes I did so little, it was hard to quantify how much time I would need to study a certain thing... So, during exams preparation, I tried to exactly note everything I did all day, in very small periods, how much time took this reading/training/writing, what were my thoughts when I got distracted, ...
