This is the first "Quantum Computing - NYC" meetup. So let's just grab some coffe, introduce ourselves, and discuss quantum computing.

It was nice meeting you tonight Rudy. Remember, if you have any questions about quantum computing, you can post them in the discussion section and we will do our best to answer. Also, don't forget to checkout "Quantum Computation and Quantum Information" by Nielsen and Chuang.

Thank everyone who came, it was nice to meet you! I am working on getting us a better venue for August so that we won't have to worry about finding each other.

I posted some of the resources we discussed in this thread: http://www.meetup.com/Quantum-Computing-NYC/messages/boards/thread/36552552

Also, please post any ideas you have for the August meeting in this thread: http://www.meetup.com/Quantum-Computing-NYC/messages/boards/thread/36552662

Looking forward to the next meeting!

So the meetup is tomorrow at 7:00pm. I will be wearing a grey t-shirt with "jirafe" written on it (the name of the company I work for). I look just like my caricature, so it should be easy to find me! Depending on the spot I am able to secure, I will try to put a sign on the table that says "Quantum Computing - NYC."

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hey everyone, I am really looking forward to our first meetup next week! I have started a discussion thread over here: http://www.meetup.com/Quantum-Computing-NYC/messages/boards/thread/36371832/#[masked]

If anyone knows of any good *introductory* material, esp. regarding models of quantum computation, please post them in that thread.

    Thanks!

Is think coffee a good venue for discussion? Last time I went by there, it seemed like a whole lot of people just sitting with there laptops doing their own stuff. No whiteboard or presentation space.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a venue for this meetup? I think it's awesome that so many people are interested, but I think we approaching the limit for the venue I had in mind.

Alas, I have a class Wednesdays, 6pm to 9 pm. Any other meeting time available for future meetings?

Hi rma2000, my decision to make the meetup for a wednesday was entirely arbitrary. Sadly, there are already people signed up or I would change it. If you would like to suggest a day for the next meetup, that would be great!
