As the equivalence principle showing that inertial mass and gravitational mass ( which curves Spacetime) are equivalent according to Einstein trying to prove the acceleration of gravity only applies to local systems is difficult and if not provable then by induction proving the converse is wrong proves the principle is right

If the moon was to fall toward earth it would curve Spacetime more than a boulder so it would actually fall greater than 9.81 meters/sec2 while the boulder an automobile and a sac of sand would fall at 9.81 meters/sec2.Another planet would fly to earth at considerably more than g as it would curve Spacetime than the moon or a boulder.Proving this in a laboratory even with the Hadron Collider in CERN would be very difficult

One must also consider the gravitational coupling constant between the moon and the earth

Incidentally, I had thought that https://cloud.sagemath.com had a feature by which I could e-mail all collaborators on a project, but I find that it does not, so if I could ask participants to please send me a message so I can add their addresses to an alias in my e-mail program, that would be great. Thanks!

Everyone, I've added a few links to the "Mathematical Physics Study Group" page in the "Pages" section. A couple of them are intended to address some skepticism about the suitability of mathematics in relation to physical reality. Another is to the survey of Geometric Algebra and Geometric Calculus that I promised. Enjoy!

I noticed that Stanford Encyclopedia have an entry by Currell and Bokulich on the light cones and causal structure and another one on Singularities and Black holes in the EVENT you are still interested. Enjoy! Intellectual honesty about both these articles is very much welcomed if you have the time and inclination. See plato.stanford.edu/entries/spacetime-singularities/‎

Darn did not include me because my rsvp switched back and forth. So total should be 26 attending.

This meeting was everything I could wish for. A very informative presentation and constant and varied discussion on several topics of Quantum physics with good participation moderated in an orderly manner.

Sorry I couldn't 't attend today. hope to see you soon also I just published a new book "The Equation of Everything " a Kindle book which provides that an inch long equation derived from Spacetime=Spacetime where time is inversely proportional to mass and the speed of light according to Einstein . Riemanian 4 space=3space-1/2spacetime curvature metric(gravity )/inertia=0 as Rieman a space has been shown as zero at pre Planck Time. Also for QuantumMechanics Spacetime is e -I to the n cots gent theta for the n dimensional state and the operators for the probability of pt r with respect to time t is applied to Planck's Mass all equal to each other and the inch long equation of everything. if your interested go to Kindle and read the first three chapters .

If you have not seen the presentation "A Universe From Nothing" by Lawrence Krauss, about our current understanding of the Universe, which most in the group have already seen, here is the link:

If a Big Crunch occurred before the Big Bang and time was going backwards from the BigCrunch then time and space would have hiccuped before the BigBang so nothing existed for an almost infinite interval as a loss of space and time is a singularity

Hawkings answer to question one we need to get off this rock. Two is more ccomplicated as proteins forming nerves with electrochemical impulses still mimic AI with a computer that still isn't alive and this doesn't explain fungi plant life bacteria or viruses

      April 20, 2014

  • Mitchell W.

If you had to ask Steven Hawking one question what would it be. For me I asked him how do we preserve the information gathered by all civilizations after a global catastrophe so it wouldn't be lost.Second question How did DNA and RNA become alive?

When a quantum mechanics equation and a relativistic equation both equal zero they equal each other Things equal to the same thing equal each other so a quantum ground state can be defined with regard to RelativityDont think too hard you'll get a headache and as a retired physician I'll have to tell you to take two aspirins and go to bed

The Big Bang could have been caused by antiparticle antiparticle repulsion or antigravity pushed down to a quantum bubble resulting in DarkEnergy and the lack of cohesive antimatter. It was said that there was almost a 50:50 mix of matter and antimatter at Planck Time. The antigravity pushed the bubble outward.

If gravity is an effect it isn't a cause and if a force it would be the cause of space-time curvature while Einstein said it was caused by mass on space-time.

    April 19, 2014

  • Mitchell W.

Spacetime curves on way with gravity and in a reciprocal manner with antigravity so if gravity and antigravity are reciprocal in curvature you're left with flat space-time or no curvature. The lack of antimatter in this universe means the curvature is primarily from matter.

I would like to re-create the complete double slit experiment and the delayed choice quantum eraser and build my own personal lab at home in my garage. What equipment do I need to buy and what is needed (also include cost)? Are there any journals all of you recommend? Ultimately, I believe it is possible to experimentally violate causality using quantum effects.

Mitchell, maybe if we figure out what gravity is NOT then maybe we can at least control it. Those types of goals like a "hover board" would be a lot easier to think up off if we understood what it is not. Don't quote me. :)

Mitchell, I have hard time keeping up with you, this group is intense! :) but to add to your comment, in a nut shell haven't you ever seen SLIDERS? :) Q-ball "quinn" wasn't trying to invent a "sliding" machine, he was trying to invent "anti-gravity". Application! Applications! Where are the Q-Applications??? lol. good times!

Because of my background in philosophy and sociology, I approach quantum physics with fundamental questions about space, time, motion, and place. and not so much with questions about cosmology and the universe, which can also further enlighten us. I am relatively ignorant in this latter realm but willing to learn.

Riemanian 4space shown in tensors to be zero equaling for Planck mass 1/e- i n cot theta power for Spacetime curvature metric which also goes to zero and factors in alternate shadow dimensions with i which factors in DarkMatter. These are only parts of the equations for Relativity and Quantum Mechanics are equal to zero and each other

      April 19, 2014

    • Katherine B.

Just wondering what it means when parts of the equations are equal to zero? Or does anybody know?
