Crafting & Confectionery

A big 'thank you' to Sally for suggesting Panera Bread. This will be our first meet-up in South Charlotte, which I know lots of you have been waiting for. Hope you can make it!

Now taking location ideas!

Our first meetup of the month is usually at Amelie's, but that place is always super crowded. So I'm trying something new this month: I'm taking suggestions, with Amelie's as a back-up plan.

Have an area of town you'd like us to visit? Have a favorite coffeeshop/bakery/bar/restaurant you think would be perfect for hanging out in? Leave a comment below, or use Meetup's "Suggest a Place" feature. Any suggestions we don't use this month we may feature in the future!

Just keep in mind:

• it should have room to accommodate a medium-to-large group

• where they won't mind us sitting around for several hours

• that's quiet enough where we can talk, but not so quiet that we'd be disturbing other patrons

I like to use these meetups to support local small businesses whenever possible, but chains are not out of the question. I also like to keep these at public places, rather than someone's house so new members feel more welcome to drop by.

Suggest away!

Headed out early since it didn't seem like anyone else would be showing up. Guys, please keep your RSVP up to date. It really helps with planning. Thanks

Yeah but I like being a woman of my word. And I was lifted off of valium and I forgot to update. My bad.

Please forgive me... I really wanted to be there. Next time I'll make sure I update my RSVP.

Panera bread at the Arboretum or Matthews near 74?

That'll be a good option if we can't find a small business to support. I know they have space, and if the weather's good we can sit outside :)

Check your local Harris-Teeter. The new ones have an area upstairs that has tables and chairs where people can eat. Great lighting for stitching. I'm in a group of six that meets on Sundays and it has worked great for us. We do try to buy food to support them.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
