Crafting & Confectionery

Now taking location ideas!

Our first meetup of the month is usually at Amelie's, but that place is always super crowded. So I'm trying something new this month: I'm taking suggestions, with Amelie's as a back-up plan.

Have an area of town you'd like us to visit? Have a favorite coffeeshop/bakery/bar/restaurant you think would be perfect for hanging out in? Leave a comment below, or use Meetup's "Suggest a Place" feature. Any suggestions we don't use this month we may feature in the future!

Just keep in mind:

• it should have room to accommodate a medium-to-large group

• where they won't mind us sitting around for several hours

• that's quiet enough where we can talk, but not so quiet that we'd be disturbing other patrons

I like to use these meetups to support local small businesses whenever possible, but chains are not out of the question. I also like to keep these at public places, rather than someone's house so new members feel more welcome to drop by.

The Coffee Scene in Fayetteville would be a wonderful location. They are privately owned, they have wonderful coffee, tea, and ice creams as well as different sandwiches and other treats. I am slightly bias however as it is close to me. I just joined this group and I am not sure if most/all meetings are held in Charlotte, NC usually, but I may have a hard time making it to many of these meeting if they are there with my crazy work schedule. I look forward to connecting with and learning with all of you :)

Hi Lindsey! So far all meetups have been in Charlotte, as that's where nearly all of our members are located. (Although the Fiber Fest meetup is in Sanford, and that's a bit closer to you.) But all group members have the ability to schedule their own meetups wherever it's convenient, and I encourage you to do so!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
