The Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche once said:
"On the whole we should regard money as mother's milk: it nourishes us and it nourishes others. That should be our attitude to money. It's not just a bank coupon that we have in our wallet. Each dollar contains a lot of past; many people worked for that particular one dollar, one cent. They worked so hard, with their sweat and tears. So it's like mother's milk. But at the same time, mother's milk can be given away and we can produce more mother's milk. So I wouldn't hang on to it too tightly."
Come out to Queer Dharma for a talk and discussion with Diane Pallas on looking at and working with money and wealth as part of the path of meditation.
Diane is a recovering IRS revenue agent, who now specializes in forensic accounting, income tax representation and cash flow analysis. She has been practicing meditation and studying Buddhism for over 30 years, and has been a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche for 11. She has a dog named Ruthie and a cat (who thinks she's a dog) named Cinnamon.
Queer Dharma is a group for LGBTQ practitioners to study and practice meditation and Dharma and to discuss personal experiences. The group serves to send a message to new-comers that they are welcome in our tradition and to explore (perhaps in ways that may be unintentionally overlooked or excluded in our regular programming) how we as gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans and gender queer individuals can incorporate the teachings in our everyday lives and in our various social circles. We're scheduled to meet every first Sunday of the month 2-4pm. Meditation instruction is available to you. Continue to socialize over dinner and drinks at Crush afterward!
See you there!
Queer Dharma is a free event - suggested donation of any dollar amount.
