Our judge for May: James Dionne. Jim has been involved in photography since 1958 when a friend of his gave him an Ansco 120 camera. This is where he started to learn the mechanics of photography. In 1982 Jim joined two camera clubs, Castle Craig in Meriden, and New Haven Camera Club. It was there that he started to hone his skills as a photographer utilizing the knowledge of the more seasoned photographers in both clubs. He took his judges training under the guidance of Everett S. Wilson. Jim has been judging since 1985 in area clubs as well as a couple of juried art shows. He has also judged in many of the fairs throughout the state.
Jim retired after 38 years of holding various positions in the quality department of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He now enjoys travel and the ability to go out and photograph whenever the mood strikes him. Jim likes a variety of subjects including scenics, sports, nature and architecture.
