Quinebaug Valley Photography Club is about friends, fun, and photographs! We have one major thing in common….we love photographs and we strive to improve our skills through club activities, competitions and sharing with one another. The club hosts image makers from all over Northeastern Connecticut including members from Windham, Willimantic, Plainfield, Putnam, Killingly, Moosup, Woodstock, Chaplin, Hampton, Pomfret as well as members from nearby Massachusetts.
At one time, film was the preferred medium and some of our members continue to shoot film. A growing number, however, are moving the club into the 21st century as they explore photography’s challenges through both point and shoot and SLR digital cameras. This challenge also brings another with it….growing our computer skills! Our more experienced digital photographers are working with members to increase their skills and, thus, their enjoyment of the hobby.
We participate in monthly intra-club competitions as well as regional New England Camera Council competitions. We are members of the NECCC, Connecticut Association of Photographers and the Photographer’s Society of America.
Stop in for a visit at the Pomfret Audubon Center, 218 Day Road, Pomfret, CT on any 1st or 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. You will be greeted by our Membership Chairman and past president, Ed Savoie. We meet September through June.
