Quran Study in English 5.00 5.0017

This meetup is set up to study Quran by hearing surahs/chapters recitation with their english translation and presenting findings on the surahs with the intent to understand infallible words of God. This meetup encourages regular study of Quran every Weekend for the sake of rememberance and understanding the message of God and its importance in our daily lives. A new surah is picked and studied in every meetup.

The very revelation of the holy Quran began with the word “iqra” which means “read” (the Quran.) Understanding is important because the Quran is a purposeful book and we cannot derive its benefits without comprehension. The command for reading is given to every person through the Prophet (Sallal Lahu Alaihi Wa Sallam).

The Quran explains the purpose of its revelation- “so that you may understand”. It is not only for the scholars (Ulema) but also lay people to understand. The Quran itself explains its own simplicity and comprehensibility. “And we have made Quran easy for admonition. Is there then any seeker of admonition?” (Qamar:17)

Quran with its sincerity of purpose is bound to confer benefit through its reading, regardless of the reader's fund of knowledge. This is the foremost objective of the Quran.

"This is the Book in which there is no doubt. It is a guide for those who are God conscious”.(Baqarah:2)

“And expound His revelations to mankind that they may be reminded”.(Baqarah:221)

“And we have put forth for man in this Quran every kind of parable in order that they may receive admonition” (zumar:27)

“Nay, verily this is an admonition so whoever will may heed it”. (Muddatthir:54-55)

“This is a book We have sent down to you blest so that the people may ponder over the verses thereof and the wise may be admonished (Sad :29).

“Do they not ponder over Quran or their hearts are locked thereof.” (Mohammed:24)

“Recite this book which has been revealed to you” (Ankaboot:45 )

"When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy." (Al-A‘raf:204)

"Surely those who recite the Book of Allah, establish Salah, spend out of what We have given them, secretly and openly, may hope for imperishable gain" (Fatir:29)

"Remember the revelations of Allah and wise sayings which are recited in your homes, surely Allah is aware of even the finest mysteries" (Al Ahzab:34)

Quran is a remedy for the diseases of the heart. “And it is healing for the diseases which are in the hearts.” (Yunus:57).

Therefore Quran is the best means to purify the heart from evil thoughts, doubts, arrogance, hypocrisy, inclination towards sins, jealousy, rancour and other evils. It creates in its reader good qualities and promotes them.

Quran can have powerful impact on the lives of human beings if read by understanding and implemented. Even a mountain which is a symbol of strength, stability would humble itself in front of Quran as stated by Allah in Surah 59 below:

" If We had sent down this Qur’an on a mountain, you would have seen it humble itself and split asunder from the fear of Allah, We are citing this example for mankind, so that they may take heed." (Al-Hashr:21)

It is odd that much focus is made on books of scholars and other worldly literature with due attention but less focus is made on the Quran itself. The noble Quran is the literal word of Allah that He revealed as an infallible framework for mankind. It contains instructions and recommendations about all aspects of life and references to the Hereafter.

Allah the almighty addressed His messenger Muhammad in the Quran, "...And recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones" (Muzzammil:4).

"The true believers are those whose hearts tremble with fear, when the name of Allah is mentioned, and whose faith grows stronger as they listen to His revelations and they put their trust in their Lord" (Al Anfal:2)

The arabic word Insan (Human) means "the one who forgets". Therefore, it is important for us to remind ourselves the true purpose of life and to stay on the straight path by reading and understanding Quran regularly.

"...So admonish with this Qur’an every such person who fears My warning." (Qaf:45)

"Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth, best who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance." (Nahl:125)

We will refrain from referring to Hadeeth. This does not mean denial of hadeeth. We encourage that references are made from the Quran. The best commentary of Quran is the Quran itself. The answers for verses not clear can be found some where else in the Holy Quran.
