We look forward to seeing you at a special vendor event in North Sydney sponsored by Tibco. Arrive from 5:30pm to enjoy beer, wine and nibbles prior to the talk as well as afterwards Doors close at 6pm - the talk will commence at this time.

Talk Outline: R's popularity has increased substantially in recent years. At this special vendor event, Frank van Praag will demonstrate how your R code and libraries can reach many more users via Spotfire – a visual analytics development environment that encourages end-users to interact with their data. He will show how to write R code straight into your analysis, call R functions and libraries, feeding data to your R models and retrieving data for visual display and end-user interaction.

Through Spotfire, R is now being rolled out to Australian desktops by the thousands, bringing the power of R to the fingertips of more than just R programmers and enthusiasts. Using Kaggle as an example, we will also look at saving and sharing your data analytics so that others can explore and interact with little, if any, IT effort.

About our speaker: Frank van Praag has spent the last eight years with TIBCO (think S and S-Plus) as a solution consultant to bring the power of visual analytics to fields including government, cyber security, clinical trials, cancer research, mining, oil & gas and many others. He has had an active interest in R since his company acquired Insightful some years ago. Prior to that he worked with Borland Software to help programmers develop better solutions, faster.

Thanks for the talk Frank. It's nice to see how a pair of different tools can mix together in a way that makes their respective strengths significantly more useful.

Really nice examples. I liked specially the examples with the 'face recognition' dataset from kaggle, and the plots in mining fields.
