Alaska Scottish Highland Games

Come join the fun at the 32nd annual Alaska Scottish Highland Games. Bring the kids and cheer on professional and local amateur Highland Athletes while enjoying piping, drumming, and dancing competitions. The International band Celtica will be taking over the main stage with their unique sound of blazing bagpipes, mighty drums and the power of a rock band during performances at noon and again from 7 - 10 p.m. The Scotch Tasting event is featured again this year. Tickets will be available at Celtic Treasures or The Bookshelf starting in March, or at the gate.

I am bringing a cold picnic lunch and waters for the music party. But you can buy food there. Cold chicken sounds great.

You can buy tickets at the Bookshelf in ER. It is in strip mall by Jitters. Adults are 12.50 and kids are 4.00. I think tix at gate are 15.00 and maybe 6.00. You can also buy tshirts at gate. Bring chairs and or blankets. I start the day with tea at the tea shoppe. We have lunch and then watch the athletes. The music party starts around 6pm I think. It's so much fun. It's going to be hot I think so bring sunscreen and sunglasses.

Question? Did someone purchase me tickets? And how many did they get for me? And where/when can I pick them up? I am brining my mom with me. We will drive and most likely arrive around 11am.

Yes, Krissie, a blanket would be a good idea. Maybe even a parasol and sunscreen with this weather. A chair is a must. So much to see and do.

It's an all-day event with a number of activities and sports competitions. Food and drink for sale--the usual festival sort of thing and music during the day and the evening.

Billie this sounds great! Is it a whole day thing? Should I bring a blanket to put on the grass in addition to a chair? It would be fun if it was like a whole day picnic thing!

Of course. My first stop is always tea at the open air tea shoppe. I get a large teapot to share with scones and watch the opening ceremonies.

Oh my gosh, this is so much fun. We go every year. It reminds us of Edinburgh, Scotland. My kids get a new sword each time we go, they collect them. My hubby is wearing a kilt this year. I got us kilts at Sportskilts.com.

Yes, I have 2 kilts to choose from and boots and even a dirk for in my boot. If its sunny I wear a tank top. I even got a Celtic bracelet arm tattoo, just for this. At night they have a Ceilihd, (I know I spelled that wrong), a music party. You can bring food or buy food and bring chairs. Then chill for a couple of hours, listening to great bands. I have such a crush on the professional athletes. This year I am going to try the whiskey tasting. Billie
