From all that I've heard and learned a masticating juicer such as the Greenstar seems to be the most popular among many. Cherie Calbom, aka the Juice Lady also recommends the Juiceman Pro which is a centrifugal juicer but according to Cherie is easier to clean. The masticating juicers do a much better job on things like leafy greens and herbs. I hope this helps. Namaste`
Hi Andy... I'd say that if I had to have one or the other I would choose the Vitamix for it's versatility and multiple uses unless you are looking specifically for juicing. With the vitamix you can make green smoothies and keep the fiber in. If you want green juice then you can use your vitamix and strain the fiber out of the smoothie using a nut bag. Nutritionally speaking if you use the same ingredients it's the same except with the juice your body does not have to process the fiber. cont
There are three kinds of nuts that do not need soaking if you're interested - cashews, pine nuts and macadamia nuts. For the dressing olive oil, lemon juice, celtic sea salt and ground black pepper would be fine. You may be able to find a recipe for other raw vegan salad dressings online. If you're looking to purchase pre made dressing, others have brought bottled natural organic dressings at times. Please let me know if this helps or if I can be of further help. Hope to see you on Sunday!
Hi Andy! :) So good to hear from you and I'm very happy at the possiblity of your attending the Edmonds Raw Vegan Potluck next Sunday! A raw organic green salad of any kind is very welcome - always! People really seem to appreciate and enjoy the greens so YES! That would be awesome! As for the nuts and seeds. It is preferable to soak them to help release the enzyme inhibators however, if you're not able to do this it's ok. There are other recipes that have unsoaked nuts and seeds. -continued -

You can put all the same fruit/veggies in the vita mix, but yes you do get the fiber. Juicing (for a cleanse to detoxify the body) requires you to have no fiber. The Juicer takes out the fiber. You can blend it in the vita mix and then strain it through a nut bag but that takes a while to do.
Hi! I would say that you need a vita mix to make smoothies or soups and a juicer for when you want to juice things. Champion or Greenstar is the best. I own a Champion juicer and a vita mix. I find having both is needed since I do a lot of juice cleanses and make a lot of smoothies!
