Dear RAW Food Meetup Member,
Fellow Meetup member, Jessica Knurick, is a Nutrition and Health doctoral student at ASU, and she is currently doing important research focusing on health and plant-based nutrition. She has asked us for our help in conducting a study to look at different health outcomes, including cardiovascular and bone health, associated with plant-based diets. She needs 90 people for her study: vegans, vegetarians, and non-vegetarians. That's us!
This study will examine how dietary choices influence health biomarkers, including body composition, energy metabolism, bone health, and cardiovascular risk factors (i.e., cholesterol, etc); and it will entail two 1-hour visits by participants to the ASU Nutrition Laboratories (ABC1 Bldg.) on the downtown Phoenix campus. Participants will receive all testing results and a $10 Target gift card for their efforts.
This is a golden opportunity, as rare as snowflakes in August, for us to show others the effects of our dietary choices. We've been living off the radar screen and now we have a shot at revealing the true potential of a healthier lifestyle. This moment is ours for the taking. Let's seize the day and make history! Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or non-vegetarian, please help the world by contributing your time to this valuable research.
To participate, you must be between 18-50 years old, and your assistance will include: completing dietary records, providing a 24-hour urine sample, a fasting blood sample, and breathing into a mask that covers the nose and mouth for 30 minutes. A bone density scan and body composition assessment will also be performed.
