Hey Maniacs, it's time for our monthly happy hour/dance at Rudino's Sports Deck in Cary. Judging from comments, folks have really enjoyed having this monthly event -- an opportunity to socialize and meet others combined with some great dancing!

We'll get started for our usual meet and greet with friends (both old and new) at 6:30 pm. This provides an opportunity for socializing in a less chaotic setting. But then at 8:00 pm, our own DJ George cranks up the music for some serious (and less serious) dancing! If you're not fond of dancing, come around 6:30 pm to meet and greet. But if you also like a little midweek fun, hang around until later in the evening for things to get a little more........hmmm, shall we just say, frenzied?!

Although this is the Wednesday night 40s/50s happy hour, ALL AGES ARE INVITED!!

It's time to head back to Trali in Brier Creek for our Happy Hour this week. This area has grown like gang busters over the past few years. This portion of the development probably doesn't get as much attention as the areas with Target and Wal-Mart. Trali Irish Pub is located in the Brierdale Shopping Center. This is further down past the Target if you are coming from Highway 70. The Lumley Exit off of I-540 is closer to Trali than US 70 is.

Inside of Trali, the restaurant is setup with 3 rooms for eating and drinking. The back room has a bar area and a sitting area that the group will use. The room is able to be shut off making it a nice little private party area for the group. There should be plenty of room to move around and also have easy access to the bar.

Drink Specials:

20 oz Bass pints for $3.50

Get scared with the Singles group. Did you watch "Children of the Corn" in the 80's? Maybe it was "The Shinning" before that. Have an abnormal fear of corn stalks and mazes? Well, time to get over that fear and have some fun at Ken's Korny Corn Maze.

Ken's Korny Corn Maze, started in 2000, and has amazed and amused visitors since it's first day open. The maze is worked out as early as February where put on paper their ideas to turn five acres of a cornfield into two miles of twists and turns. The average time to maneuver the maze take 60-75 minutes.

The objective is to find each of the twelve mail-boxes, each of which has a stamp to apply to the game card. Each participant punches a game clock when he enters and the object is to complete the maze, gathering stamps from eac h of the twelve mailboxes in the shortest possible time.

We are going on one of the Haunted Harvest Nights. So, it supposed to be extra scary.
We may do both the maze and the haunted trail.

The Midlife Maniacs will be heading to Brier Creek and the Carolina Ale House this Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. As usual, we'll be on the back patio where the group is accustomed to meeting. The crowd loves this place (yeah, I know parking is a hassle, but let's suck it up!) and with the great drink specials, the great friends, and a lot of new folks.....what more could you ask for?

I'll be posting updates on drink specials as we get closer to the date.

We've been getting a lot of new folks lately, and they've been coming back -- GREAT!. If you're a newcomer, the 40s-50s happy hour is for you. Come on in, introduce yourself, and meet your new friends. You'll be welcome!

The 30's/40's group will be venturing back to Cary and Jack Astor's Bar and Grill for our happy hour this week. We last had an event here in mid August and we had a big turnout so we are hoping for similar results. We will be gathering in Jack Astor's elegant bar area which is located directly to your left as you arrive through the main entrance. They are allowing us to use the patio area located just outside the bar area, so hopefully it will a nice evening outside. It is also Trivia night starting at 8pm, so if you want to form a team and compete this could be fun as well. I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Your Stimulus Package for the evening:

$2.75 Coors Light Drafts 23oz (yes 23oz)
$4.00 Long Island Ice Teas
$4.00 Kamikaze Shots

Jack Astor's is located on Walnut Street across from Crossroad Ford. If you're coming by the beltline, keep going straight toward Sanford (Hwy 1/64) to the first exit, which will be just past the Walnut Street overpass. Take a right at the end of the ramp to head east on Walnut Street. Go about three blocks to the big shopping center on the right (just past McDonald's and Lowe's). Plenty of parking.

Lets try something a little different that has been great fun when we held this type event in the past. Let's venture back to Brier Creek for Dinner & A Movie on a early Sunday evening. We will be meeting and greeting first at the Applebee's for a casual dinner and a chance to talk with all the other attendees. We will then take the short walk across the parking lot over to the Regal Brier Creek 14 Theater and attend a 7pm movie showing! We can then break up into smaller groups and attend the movie you find more interesting. I will post what movies they are actually showing closer to the date of this event.

Okay RDU Singles, we'll be in Cary for this week's TGIF happy hour -- at the Rally Point Sport Grill. We'll be socializing (as usual), and there'll also be a whole lotta dancing fun. DJ Ray has bought all new sound gear and a new laptop, and he's loading all the songs that we love. Just for us, he'll be playing those great 60's/70's dance tunes with some newer music thrown in to keep it fresh. I like that!

We'll get started at 6:30 pm (or at least your friendly organizer will), so come on out early to socialize. DJ Ray will crank up at 8 pm and play until midnite. And I know some folks are going to be asking, so I'll go ahead and just say it -- YES, there will be idiot dancing, but those of you who prefer more formal dances such as east or west coast swing will be happy too. Fun for everybody......

The Rally Point Sport Grill has lots of free parking with easy access off I-40. There are multiple rooms within the grill so you can hang out at the bar or come back to the main room where the music and dancing will be happening. There's also another bar in there. More on drink specials to come.
