Saturday Hike on the Crabtree Creek Trail

Let's get outdoors, hike some great trails and socialize at the same time.

The Saturday hiking series continues with hiking a small portion of the Crabtree Creek Trail. The Crabtree Creek Trail extends 10+ miles through Raleigh.

We will begin our walk behind Crabtree Valley mall going about 3 1/4 miles before we turn around for a total hike of ~6.5 miles. Most of the trail is paved.

Please arrive at 10:00 am. We will depart promptly at 10:10 am and finish around noon. Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes.

There is no restroom on the trail but there are some in the mall.

Directions:

From Glenwood Avenue take Blue Ridge Rd (either a right or left depending on which direction you are coming from.) Once on Blue Ridge keep to the left, passing the mall entrance. Take your first right on to Crabtree Valley Avenue. Then take your first right on to Homewood Banks Drive (technically the rear entrance to the mall.) We will be meeting on right hand side immediately as you come in from Homewood Banks Drive. (Note that Google shows Homewood Banks as Edwards Mill.)

Lunch Afterward:

After the hike we can meet for lunch in the Crabtree Valley Mall food court.

I was disappointed. A number of us were confused with the directions and we ended up having to split from the group. I ran into others earlier at the mall who were also confused and they simply left. Not a good first experience for me. Hope other meetup points for hikes are better defined.
