Saturday Morning Hike(s) Bridle Trails @ Umstead Park- Cary

Let's get outdoors, hike some neat trails and socialize at the same time.

We hope that the weather will cooperate!! This is a great opportunity to hike some of the nice trails that we have in the area with your friends from RDU Singles.

We will have 3 options for hiking on Saturday

I. 10 mile hike on Bridle Trails (the BIG one)

II. 7 mile hike on Bridle Trails

III. 3 mile hike around Reedy Creek Lake

This will be a nice, moderately paced hike. Please dress appropriately for hiking and bring water if you would like to have it on the trail.

PLEASE No Dogs or Children- we already take up too much room on trails as it is

Driving and Parking directions:

We’ll meet in parking lot for Umstead Park that is right off of Harrison Avenue. VERY EASY TO FIND!! Take exit 287 off I-40 and head North in the opposite direction of downtown Cary and you will immediately be inside the Park and at the parking lot. Just turn right off exit ramp if you were heading west on I-40, turn left over bridge if you were heading east.

(there are restrooms and a water fountain at the parking lot).  Meeting area is at Loblolly trail entrance.  Drive through parking lot to far right side, where you will see a gazebo and entrance to trail.

We will leave at 10:10 sharp, so please be on time. Hike will run approximately 2 1/2 hours.

These are what the Bridle Trails look like!! No rocks or roots, wide hard dirt paths. Pretty easy to walk except for the many uphill sections. 13 miles of these trails in Umstead

Coffee after Hike-

We will also be meeting for coffee or light lunch after the hike @ Cafe Carolina at the corner of Harrison Ave & Weston Parkway- just south of Umstead on Harrison Ave. will arrive 12:45 to 1:00pm  http://www.cafecarolina.com/

A bit cooler than I was hoping. I'll take a walk later with my daughter. We need some bonding time.

Hike is a go this morning!! Rain is out of here and the Umstead Bridle trails take water very well. Temps will only be in the 50's during our hike so dress accordingly.... see you there
