NCMA Walk

Please arrive at 9:15 am. Let's meet in the parking lot to the right of the entrance. Rain cancels. There is no restroom at the trailhead. The museum (where our hike ends) has restrooms, but doors do not open until 10:00 am.  Dogs on leashes are OK.

We will depart promptly at 9:30 am. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. We will walk about 2 ½ miles through the sculptures and will stay on paved trails. This is not a difficult walk for those who walk regularly; however, there are some respectable ups & downs and it will get your heart beating.  The walk out is more downhill than up; the return walk is more uphill than down.

We will walk over the I-40 pedestrian bridge and reassemble as a group before we turn around.  Please wait for the group on the far side of the pedestrian bridge.  Rarely, someone gets vertigo on the bridge.  If so, you can wait on the bench before the bridge.  Some may not turn around at the bridge and instead extend their walk onto the Meredith campus.  Please evaluate how you feel before you decide to extend your walk.  You should have more than 1/2 steam left at this point; the bridge is a bit shy of the 1/2 way point.   For those who choose to continue onto Meredith, please know that you are on your own.  I will turn around.

Safety Note: Parts of the trail are heavily used by bicyclists. When you hear a bike bell or a holler from behind, please MOVE TO THE RIGHT. Sometimes the biker will holler “bike to your left”, so MOVE TO THE RIGHT.

The hike should last about 1 hour and we will end at the front door of the art museum around 10:30 (for the 2 1/2 mile walk).

The museum restrooms are behind the reception desk and entrance is free. You may tour the museum afterwards on your own. Museum guards will require that you place your water bottle/pack in a locker, which is also free and behind the reception desk.

Is there a contact # to reach the group? Lately I have had trouble finding meetup groups.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
