Hike at NC Museum of Art

Please arrive at 10:15 am.  We will depart promptly at 10:30 am and finish around 11:45 near the museum entrance.  Please bring water and wear sturdy shoes.  We will walk about 2 ½ miles through the sculptures.  Most of the trail is paved with some respectable ups & downs.  We will cross over the pedestrian bridge over the interstate and return.   A portion of the hike will be through woods and we take a slightly different trail than on previous hikes.  We will not visit the cloud chamber.

Safety Note:   The trail is also used by bicyclists.  When you hear a bike bell or a holler from behind, pleaseMove to the Right.  Sometimes the biker will holler “bike to your left”, and this can confuse the walker and he will move to his left.  Always step to your right.

There is no restroom at the trailhead but there is one in the museum at the end of the hike.  You may tour the museum afterwards on your own.  The museum is free, it opens at 10:00 am, and restrooms are behind the reception desk.    Museum guards will require that you place your water bottle/pack in a locker, which is also free and behind the reception desk.  Just place your stuff in the locker and take the key, pick up your stuff as you leave.

See you the 17th!, the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  Rain will cancel; a notice of cancellation will be posted.  NC State game is away, so traffic shouldn’t be too bad.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
