Reason Meeting:

Not Everything Is A Disease - the religiosity and pseudoscience of the 12 step addiction recovery model

Joey Wichert will be speaking, with lots of room for discussion.  He says about himself: "Credentials would be: 8 years as a Treatment Specialist / Behavioral Health Tech (paraprofessional to counselors and environmental facilitator for clients) at Omaha Campus for Hope.  Within OCH I have worked in both Co-Occurring Residential and Intermediate Residential Programs. I also have 34 years of personal experience in and around addiction recovery. I have participated in regular, ongoing internal training at OCH which is geared towards fact based research in the behavioral sciences focusing on institutional and social variables. I have no formal academic accreditations."

Laurey Steinke is facilitator for February.

The regular Saturday meetings have a varied format.  There are occasional speakers or videos, followed by discussion.  Some meetings are totally discussion of topics of current interest and some are activities.  Facilitators of the meeting change each month.  The group often adjourns across the street to Jazz for dinner, beverages, and less formal conversation.
