Our sister humanist group, OMAHA, has invited us to join them in an outing.
After a one year hiatus, the Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show will return to Offutt Air Force Base, on July 19-20, 2014.
Highlighting this year's show will be the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's flight demonstration team. In addition there will be an F-22 Raptor demo, a MiG-17, Japanese Zero and many heritage military aircraft.
So, why are we meeting at H W Banner Park? This year Offutt is launching a bicycle valet service in an effort to try to alleviate traffic congestion. We will bike from Banner Park to the Offutt SAC gate. Cyclists will then be directed to the bicycle parking lot only 250 feet from the entrance to the airshow. It will be a short 7 mile, mostly level bike ride from the park to the bike lot at Offutt via the Keystone Trail.
Here's a link to a map showing the bike route we'll take and the exact meet up spot for the ride. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zpuDp_J3kh2E.klX66MQZuaZY
Don't have a bike but would like to meet up at the airshow? No problem! We'll swing by the airshow entrance gate at 10:00am to meet up with anyone that wants to drive or catch a shuttle bus to the airshow.
For those of you who are dual members, please ONLY RSVP ON ONE MEETUP PAGE. This will save confusion.
