Laurey Steinke is facilitating the meeting on July 19th. A member of the secular student organization at UNO, Richard Baus, a student in philosophy, will be speaking. His title is "Information Ethics".
"The simple act of sharing information with someone has the potential to alter their life forever. When you inform another person of something, what ethical implications are involved in that act and to what extent are you responsible for what that information does to the person you have relayed it to? From the Roman Catholic Church's internal strife with sexual abuse to the establishment of WikiLeaks, the ethics of information is more relevant now than it ever has been."
The regular Saturday meetings have a varied format. There are occasional speakers or videos, followed by discussion. Some meetings are totally discussion of topics of current interest and some are activities. Facilitators of the meeting change each month. The meeting adjourn across the street to Jazz for dinner, beverages and more conversation.
