People interested in the principles/concepts/schools of thought of liberty. We're a "small L" libertarian group, meaning we are not officially affiliated with the Libertarian Party, and are libertarians by belief/principle. Anyone wanting to learn about libertarianism, and how to get involved in local libertarian activities is welcome.
We see to promote a general culture of liberty in the Rio Grande Valley, form a sort of community for libertarians to interact with each other and engage in outreach with our fellow members of society. Thus, the group fulfills various roles such as a social network for libertarians and a marketing campaign for the ideas of liberty. People interested in human free are welcome and encouraged to share their views with us.
Things you can expect to see out of the group are: pointing students to libertarian(or liberty-oriented) student organizations (such as Young Americans for Liberty, Students For Liberty, NORML, SSDP, GLBT, etc). The group is open and decentralized, welcoming input from all members. If anyone wants to do something, simply mention it at a meeting and/or on our emailing list and see how many people might be interested in joining you!
Projects in the works right now include making flyers to spread around town and universities (especially universities), business cards, starting a political comic strip of some sort, getting some local artist to collaborate with us on a project for the Art Walk. Maybe someday Students For Liberty will even have a regional conference in the Rio Grande Valley, bringing some of the biggest names, brightest minds, and energetic people in the liberty movement to the Valley (at a university in the area such as UTPA or UTB).
So what are you waiting for? Come get your liberty on!
